Symptom: Windows 11 shows 'No internet, secured' or 'Limited connectivity'. Pages fail to load, ping fails, or VPN cannot connect.
01
Run the Built-in Network Troubleshooter
Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters → Network Adapter → Run. This catches the most common issues automatically.
02
Reset Network Settings
Settings → Network & Internet → Advanced network settings → Network reset → Reset now. This reinstalls all network adapters and resets networking components to defaults. The PC will restart.
03
Update Network Adapter Drivers
Right-click Start → Device Manager → Network adapters → Right-click your adapter → Update driver → Search automatically. Outdated drivers are a frequent cause of connectivity drops in Windows 11.
04
Install Windows Updates
Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates → Install all. Microsoft often includes network driver and stack fixes in cumulative updates. Restart if prompted.
05
Disable VPN or Proxy
Settings → Network & Internet → VPN (or Proxy) → disable any active VPN or proxy. Test connectivity. If it works, the issue is with the VPN/proxy configuration rather than the underlying network.
06
Flush DNS & Reset TCP/IP Stack
Run these commands in an elevated Command Prompt in order. This resolves corrupted DNS caches, Winsock catalogue corruption, and stuck DHCP leases.
ipconfig /flushdns netsh int ip reset netsh winsock reset ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew
💡
Quick test sequence: ping 8.8.8.8 (IP reachability) → ping google.com (DNS resolution) → browser test. This three-step sequence pinpoints exactly where the connectivity breaks — layer 3, DNS, or application layer.
